Hi, my name is Kerri.
After graduating college with a degree in psychology, I began my career working in marketing. Not sure if I ever loved it, but it was a career and it had its rewards. A few years and three marketing jobs later, I decided it was time for a change. I took a job working in a Pilates studio, manning the front desk while training and taking classes. Up until that point, I was someone who’d never really cared much for exercise. But once I got a taste of Pilates, I was hooked, and I knew it was what I wanted to do with my life.
Branching out and opening my own studio 10 years ago was a big, scary step. But it also turned out to be the best thing I have ever done for my career. I teach private, one-on-one sessions at my home studio in a converted loft in a historic building in the heart of DTLA. My clients range in age from 18 to 80, all body types, all experience levels — from uber healthy bodies to people trying to work through conditions.
I once had a client with a physical disability. I worked with her for a time before she moved out of state. Recently she contacted me to thank me for helping her find her center, not just in the physical sense, but also in terms of being personally grounded and becoming more confident. I’m extremely proud of that. Knowing that you can make an impact like that on someone’s life gives what you do deeper meaning.
What sets me apart? My Doctor Who fandom? No, seriously, I do pride myself on giving each client a personal experience. Obviously, teaching one-on one is personal but I really try to understand what each of my clients is looking for and tailor the experience to that.
